the rights to the book. Home of the Perfect
Christmas Tree is a special partnership project
aimed at bettering the long suffering economic sector of the Mitchell County NC
region. Spruce Pine NC is a charming mountain area nestled along the
NC Blue Ridge Parkway. The town once thrived as a mining and then textile manufacturing town, however,
these industries have outsourced jobs to other countries in recent decades,
leaving many of the people in Spruce Pine
without jobs and employment options.
The Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree project was developed from Gloria’s inspiring story and gift to the town, and thus, seeks to develop local, small businesses and
stimulate the area’s economy. Since the project was started, 60 individual businesses have been created. All of these local businesses produce quality, handmade products; all of the products are featured in the Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree Collection. Proceeds and a portion of the royalties from the product sales are used to fund scholarships at the local high school, Mitchell High School.
The Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree items and gift collectibles are sold online and in many of Spruce Pine’s local stores.
