This wonderful Shining Rock Wilderness Web Cam is

Cold Mountain NC and several other surrounding mountain
peaks. The Shining Rock Webcam is sometimes considered
to be the Cold Mountain Web Cam due to the incredible
view of Cold Mountain North Carolina. The Shining Rock
Wilderness area is a heavily forested reserve located
close to
Asheville North Carolina and Lake Junaluska NC in
Haywood County North Carolina and has an elevation of
4,619 feet or 1,408 meters. This Cold Mountain NC Web
Cam is a great way to check the weather or simply to
catch a daily glimpse of the amazing long range views
that it provides. Shining Rock Wilderness is comprised
of roughly 18,500 acres and joins the Middle Prong
Wilderness Area within the Pisgah National Forest. The
Middle Prong Wilderness Area lies to the West of the
Shining Rock Wilderness Area and consists of roughly
7,900 acres. One of the reasons Middle Prong Wilderness
was given its distinct designation in 1984 was to help
take some of the large amounts of traffic away from the
Shining Rock Wilderness Area. Cold Mountain NC, which
rises 6,030 feet in elevation, has made the Shining Rock
Wilderness area very popular. There are also several
Balsam Mountain peaks which rise to a height of over
6,000 feet which have contributed to making this area of
Haywood County within the Pisgah National Forest very
popular. The Shining Rock Wilderness Area is located
between
Blue Ridge Parkway mileposts 412 and 431. The
Shining Rock Area can also be accessed by NC 215 or US
276. The elevations of these two areas range from 3,200
feet at the West Fork of the Pigeon River to 6,030 feet
at the top of Cold Mountain NC to 6,400 feet at the top
of Richland Balsalm. Shining Rock and Middle Prong have
a combined acreage of 26,400 acres. Make sure to visit
